Essential Sailing and Boat Repair & Maintenance – 10 Week Course – (2 Days A Week)
Course Qualifications Awarded: RYA Accredited Essential Navigation and First Aid At Sea
By the end of this training course your experience and newly gained qualifications will provide a pathway for you to enter and progress in the marine sector. Our instructors will support your learning and progression with industry related advice and referrals.
This course takes into consideration that a beginner will need plenty of time on the water to learn to sail as well as plenty of time in the shed to learn how to repair her or his boat. The course is delivered during ten weeks for two days a week so that you will be in a position to absorb the learning without stress and gradually gain the confidence to be independent and safe on the water whilst also rely on your newly acquired skills to maintain your boat efficiently.
You will learn the various techniques required to repair small boats made out of plywood, fibreglass and wood. How to recognise and use resins, glues and solvents, how to mix them and how to apply them correctly. Your course work will include written descriptions for each module with examples and images for you to refer to in your future progression.
On the water you will gain the confidence and knowledge to sail a dinghy as well as learning to row and manage small boats. You will receive RYA accredited courses in Essential Navigation and First Aid at Sea.
